Welcome to Who's Who

This short game is about finding people linked to three social identity labels: Self, Friend, and Stranger.

  1. Tell us a little about yourself and complete a short pre-game questionnaire.
  2. Rank the three labels by their personal importance, then create a custom avatar and choose a name for each one.
  3. After a short guided practice, complete four blocks of 12 trials by finding and tapping the requested avatar as quickly and accurately as you can.
  4. After the game, complete a final questionnaire before reading the explanation of the research.

The full activity will take approximately 10 minutes.

Why Did We Design This Game?

For over 20 years, our laboratory has been investigating a fascinating aspect of human cognition: our ability to prioritize and process information related to ourselves faster and more accurately than other information. This is known as the Self-Prioritization Effect.

Through this brief game, we investigate how linking avatars to the labels Self, Friend, and Stranger influences attention and responses.

Our wider aim is to translate this research into a practical, engaging intervention tool that may support cognitive abilities and mood in older adults.
